Hargeisa — President Muse Bihi Abdi delivered a historic address to the nation on Thursday evening, outlining the achievements of the past year and announcing ambitious new initiatives aimed at accelerating economic development and strengthening international partnerships.

Speaking from the Presidential Palace in Hargeisa, the President highlighted significant progress in infrastructure development, including the completion of major road networks connecting regional capitals and the expansion of the Berbera Port facilities.

"Our independence is not just a date on the calendar. It is a continuous journey of self-determination, development, and dignity for every citizen of Somaliland."

The President specifically emphasized the growing diplomatic relationships with Taiwan and other international partners, noting that these partnerships have brought substantial investment in healthcare, education, and technology sectors.

Economic Reforms Announced

Among the major announcements was a comprehensive economic reform package designed to attract foreign direct investment. The new legislation includes tax incentives for manufacturing industries and streamlined business registration processes.

"We are creating an environment where businesses can thrive," the President stated. "Our goal is to reduce unemployment among youth and position Somaliland as a regional hub for trade and innovation."

The address also touched on security matters, with the President commending the armed forces and police for maintaining stability throughout the regions. He announced a 15% increase in the security budget to enhance counter-terrorism capabilities.
