Independent Reporting

We operate free of government and commercial pressure, ensuring our reporting reflects only the facts and the public interest.

🌍

Local & Global Reach

Our stories originate in Hargeisa but reach the Somaliland diaspora and international audience across six continents.

βš–οΈ

Truth & Accountability

We hold power accountable through rigorous fact-checking, source verification, and adherence to the highest journalistic ethics.

Our Story

Somaliland NTV was founded in 2010 by a group of Hargeisa-based journalists who believed that Somaliland's democratic story deserved to be told on its own terms. What began as a small digital newsroom has grown into the most-visited Somali-English news portal in the region, serving over 2 million readers monthly.

We cover the full spectrum of Somaliland life β€” from the landmark decisions made inside the House of Representatives to the grassroots innovations reshaping farming in Togdheer region. Our journalism bridges the gap between Somaliland and the wider world, giving a voice to communities that are too often overlooked by the international press.

Editorial Values

Every story we publish is guided by four core principles:

  • Accuracy β€” We verify every claim before publication. We correct errors promptly and transparently.
  • Independence β€” We accept no editorial direction from political parties, governments, or advertisers.
  • Fairness β€” We give all sides of a story the opportunity to respond before we publish.
  • Public Interest β€” We prioritize stories that matter to the people of Somaliland and the Somali diaspora.
